Nutritional Counseling and Supplements

People with HIV/AIDS experience changes in body fat distribution, fat metabolism and glucose metabolism.

Julie Theroux, a registered dietitian on staff at SAN, meets with clients on an ongoing basis and provides them with individual nutritional assessments and eating plans. Clients learn how to monitor changes in their bodies and alter their diet and activities to combat these syndromes.

Julie gives guidelines for taking vitamins and mineral supplements and dispenses some of these products free of charge when appropriate. Heidi and SAN’s Food Program coordinator offer classes in SAN’s on-site kitchen on nutrition, food preparation and food safety.
