Health has never been as important as it is now, with people having spent the latter 10 years gorging on take away food and doing little in the way of exercise it has now become essential that we eat healthy foods and take regular exercise in order to maintain a healthy weight. It is fact now that one in three children within the United Kingdom have a weight problem, and this is only going to continue to get worse if people carry on with bad habits, eating take away food. The government are pushing healthy school dinners in order to combat this problem, Jamie Oliver has attempted to get Britain cooking with his programme Ministry of Food. Many people in our country have never cooked and don’t even know how to work a cooker.
The thought is that to be healthy you have to eat at least 5 portions of fruit or vegetables per day, this is easily attainable as one portion of fruit can simply be a glass of fruit juice. Healthy balanced meals are the way forward and often traditional cooking such as hot pots and stew have all the vital ingredients to be healthy. It is important to try and maintain a healthy weight in order that you can live life to the full and hopefully ward off any health problems which can be associated with being overweight or obese.
There are groups out there which focus on healthy eating and weight loss for all those who lack inspiration, weight watchers and slimmers world work on a points system and offer dieting tips, the point system mainly comprises of keeping within a certain amount of points, you can add to your points doing exercises such as walking, keep fit, swimming. Depending on how many calories you burn will depend on how many extra points you earn.
Some people turn to alternative medicine in order that they lose weight without dieting, they choose things like herbal remedies, acupuncture, hypnosis and audio tapes which they play whilst they sleep in order to loose weight.
There have been many dieting fads over the years which have been tried and tested by most people who have wanted to loose weight at some point in their lives. Some have chosen the weight watchers and slimmers world root and other have tried the more unconventional diets such as the Atkins, baby food and even the Maple syrup diet. There has been egg diets, you name the diet and someone out there will have tried it.
It is thought though that the only way to achieve any success in maintaining a healthy weight is to follow a sensible diet. Which should include five portions of fruit and vegetables throughout the day, try to cut down on alcohol intake, chocolate and fried foods. So stick to your five a day and exercise regularly and you should maintain a healthy weight.
